    The WA Gaming and Wagering Commission collects funds largely from a racing bet levy, and distributes it out to racing clubs.

    This funding is listed as State Government income - because that's exactly what it is.

    In 2022-23, the WA Greyhound Racing Association received over $30,435,400 in this income, plus nearly $580,000 in grants from Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA).

    This State Government money is tax income -- millions of dollars of YOUR MONEY funnelled into the cruel and deadly greyhound racing industry.

    Meanwhile, average Western Australians grapple with the cost of living and a healthcare industry in crisis.

    Most Australians want greyhound racing banned! So why is OUR money being used to keep it going?

    We know that the people of WA stand with us in our fight to end this cruelty, and the first step in shutting the industry down is stopping the flow of taxpayer money… because right now government money is the only thing keeping the industry going. As soon as the government money stops flowing, this industry will die.

    Dear Paul Papalia, Minister for Racing -
    Since 2015, more than 1,400 dogs have been killed by the greyhound racing industry.
    Tax dollars have not improved animal welfare. Instead, there has been a 155% increase in the number of on-track greyhound deaths from July 2022 to July 2023.
    State Government income should be used for critical services - not to prop up an industry that Western Australians are against.
    I'm calling on you to stop diverting my tax dollars into this cruel and deadly blood sport.
