Live Export: Keep the Ban!

In 2022, we secured an election promise from the Albanese Government to phase out live sheep export.

Then in 2024, the government made history by passing legislation to phase out the trade. This was a welcome move, signalling an end to the suffering of millions of sheep subjected to horrific live export conditions.

But now, the live export industry and its powerful lobbyists are fighting back.

Pressure is mounting on the government to delay, weaken, or even reverse its commitment altogether. At the same time, there is growing misinformation about live export, including the deceptive #KeepTheSheep campaign, which ignores the suffering this trade inflicts on animals.

We cannot let this happen.

Public Pressure Works!

The Federal Government only committed to ending live sheep export after years of dedicated campaigning, exposés, and relentless pressure from the animal protection movement.

The historic win to phase out the sheep trade was made possible because of advocates like you. Together, we exposed the truth, mobilised public opinion, and forced the government to act.

Now, we must keep up the pressure.

Western Australians Overwhelmingly Support the Ban

Polling shows that Western Australians stand firmly against live export. This trade is not only a moral failure but a stain on our state’s reputation. Let’s remind the Albanese Government that we demand better for animals – and we will not accept delays, compromises, or backtracking.

Sign and share this petition to tell the Albanese Government:

  1. Keep the ban on live sheep export.
  2. Bring the date forward.
  3. Extend the ban to all species.
  4. Don’t bow to industry pressure. Deliver on your promise.

Together, we can create a future where no animal suffers in the brutal live export trade.

Keep the ban – for sheep, for all animals, for good.
