End Animal Poisoning
Australia is one of the few places in the world that still allows the use of inhumane poisons to control animal populations.
Highly-toxic poisons like 1080 and Pindone are designed to attract animals, but their effects are horrifying:
Uncontrollable vomiting, convulsions, screaming fits, and prolonged suffering before death.
Native species, domestic pets, farm animals, and introduced species all fall victim to these cruel baits.
The WA Government continues to permit the widespread use of these poisons despite their devastating impact on wildlife and the environment. These baits don’t discriminate — dingoes, kangaroos, cats, dogs, and even endangered species are at risk.
The Solution
There is never a justification to cause pain, suffering or death in the management of animal populations. We reject these inhumane practices. The Animal Justice Party is pushing for non-lethal, humane, preventative, and species-specific solutions to manage animal populations.
Over two hundred years of destructive human activity, including the use of poisons, has caused major damage to ecosystems.
This has made it much easier for introduced animals to fill the habitats where native animals once flourished. We need to restore the balance — and that starts with banning these deadly poisons.
JOIN US IN CALLING ON THE WA GOVERNMENT TO:
- Ban the use of 1080 and Pindone baits and phase out other inhumane poisons.
- Invest in research and development of humane, biological population control methods for introduced species such as wild horses, cats, and foxes.
- Implement non-lethal and preventative solutions that protect both native wildlife and our precious ecosystems.
