Get messy.
Get crafty.
Get ready for Pride.
- Snacks provided
- No experience needed
- Dress for mess
The Animal Justice Party WA and Hon Amanda Dorn MLC are marching in the Perth Pride Parade again on Saturday 28 November, side by side with our LGBTQIA+ members, volunteers and friends. To get ready, we're turning Amanda's electorate office in Midland into a craft studio for the afternoon.
- Build a black swan. We're making black swan costumes from recyclable paper and cardboard.
- Paint, sew and assemble. There's decor to make for the float, and a job for every pair of hands.
- Share your skills, or pick some up. Love getting crafty? Come and show us how. Not the creative type? We'll guide you through simple ways to help.
- Come for the company. Or the snacks, or the craft. Whatever brings you, we'd love to see you there.

Why black swans?
This year's Pride theme is Side by Side, and we're celebrating all things queer in the animal kingdom. Queer behaviour has been documented in more than 1,500 species, and WA's own emblem, the black swan, is famous for male pairs that raise cygnets together.
Let us know you're coming so we can plan the snacks and supplies. No Facebook? No worries, just come along.
