Esther Forest - Candidate for Kwinana
I’m Esther Forest, and I am proud to be standing as a candidate for Kwinana in the 2025 WA State Election with the Animal Justice Party.
As an artist and filmmaker, I use my creative work to highlight animal liberation and challenge the way society treats animals. Through stop-motion animation, I aim to bring to life the stories of animals often overlooked, using art as a powerful tool for advocacy and change.
But storytelling alone is not enough — real change happens through legislation. That’s why I am standing in this election: to push for stronger legal protections for animals and ensure their rights are recognised and respected.
"Art has the power to inspire, but laws have the power to protect. It’s time to bring compassion into our political system and demand justice for animals."
Originally from Townsville, Queensland, I have called Perth home for the past 10 years. During that time, I have been a passionate advocate for animal rights, environmental sustainability, and community-driven change. I share my life with two rescue rabbits, and I am particularly committed to raising awareness about the welfare of rabbits, who are too often neglected or dismissed as disposable pets.
I believe in a future where animals are no longer treated as commodities, and where our laws reflect compassion and justice for all living beings. If elected, I will work tirelessly to push for policies that protect animals and hold industries accountable for cruelty and exploitation.
Esther's Key Priorities in this Election Include:
- Strengthening animal protection laws, ensuring animals are recognised as sentient beings with rights.
- Ending the exploitation of animals in entertainment, including banning greyhound racing and rodeos.
- Legislating protections for small companion animals, ensuring rabbits and other neglected pets receive proper care and legal safeguards.
"For too long, animals have been ignored in political decision-making. If elected, I will stand up for the voiceless, ensuring that compassion and justice are at the core of our laws."
