Grant Stewart - Candidate for Perth

I’m Grant Stewart, and I am proud to stand as a candidate for Perth in the 2025 WA State Election with the Animal Justice Party.

For over two decades, I have lived and worked in the City of Perth, witnessing firsthand the challenges facing our community. But my greatest passion lies in animal protection and advocacy — because a just society must extend its compassion to all beings, not just humans.

My journey into activism began in 2018, when I saw a 60 Minutes expose on live sheep exports. The footage was shocking, heartbreaking, and life-changing—I could no longer ignore the systemic cruelty animals endure. From that moment, I became committed to fighting for a kinder world and dedicating my time to animal advocacy, education, and rescue.

"What are we doing to animals, and what right do we have? That question changed my life — and now, I am determined to change the laws that allow their suffering to continue."

I founded the Animal Kindness Centre, initially focused on education and advocacy, but which has since evolved into a wildlife rescue hotline. Through this work, I have directly helped countless animals while launching advocacy events to raise awareness and inspire change.

Beyond my passion to help animals, my career in real estate and property valuation has given me deep insight into urban development, housing policy, and community planning. I understand the unique needs of Perth residents, from housing affordability to environmental sustainability, and I believe that compassion must be at the core of policymaking.

Grant's Key Priorities in this Election Include:

• Stronger animal protection legislation, ensuring those who mistreat animals are held accountable.
• Wildlife conservation and habitat protection, safeguarding our native species from destruction.
• Sustainable urban planning, promoting green spaces and ethical development that respects both people and animals.

"For too long, animals have been excluded from political decision-making. If elected, I will fight for legislative reforms that recognise animals as sentient beings, push for an end to cruel industries, and work towards a more compassionate and sustainable future for all."
