Sarah Gould - Candidate for Rockingham

I’m Sarah Gould, and I am proud to stand as a candidate for Rockingham in the 2025 WA State Election with the Animal Justice Party.

With a Bachelor of Social Science and a lifelong commitment to social justice, I believe in standing up for marginalised communities, including those facing financial hardship, homelessness, discrimination, and addiction. But justice and kindness should extend beyond humans — all animals deserve protection, respect, and freedom from suffering.

My activism has led me to volunteer with the Animal Justice Party WA for 10 years, including serving on the WA State Committee, as State Submissions Manager, and as co-editor of our WA Newsletter. I have also been a dedicated advocate with Stop Live Exports, working to expose and end one of Australia’s most brutal industries.

"Animals feel pain and fear just as we do — yet our laws still treat them as property. This needs to change. If elected, I will fight to ensure animals are finally granted the protection and justice they deserve."

Born in Perth (Boorloo) on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja, I am passionate about protecting our environment and working alongside First Nations communities to promote a future that respects all life.

Sarah's Key Priorities in this Election Include:

• Strengthening animal protection laws, granting animals the legal recognition they deserve.
• Supporting grassroots advocacy and wildlife protection, ensuring our native animals and environment are safeguarded.
• Ending factory farming, shifting towards a food system that is ethical, sustainable, and cruelty-free.

"For too long, animals have been left out of political decision-making. If elected, I will work tirelessly to change the laws that allow cruelty to continue, push for reforms that recognise animal sentience and rights, and build a future where kindness and justice guide our policies."
