Help us end greyhound racing.
On March 8th, Vote '1' for Animal Justice Party on your WA State Election ballot paper.
The Problem
Mass graves. Live baiting. Doping. Deadly tracks. Tiny cages. Gambling. Violence. Cruelty. Neglect.
Racing subjects greyhounds to dangerous conditions, pushing them to speeds of up to 60 kph on tight turns – inevitably causing crashes which lead to broken bones, torn muscles, and other debilitating injuries.
Mounting evidence of abuse paints a bleak picture, with trainers regularly caught doping dogs with illegal substances to boost performance or conceal injuries. Once they are no longer profitable, greyhounds are discarded by the industry, with community rescue and adoption groups unable to keep up with the rate of rehoming.
And those greyhounds are the ‘lucky’ ones.
Since 2015, more than 1,400 dogs have been killed by the greyhound racing industry.
This cruel and deadly industry lost its social license years ago, however our government continues to prop up this exploitation with taxpayer funds.
The Solution
It's time for WA to end greyhound racing once and for all.
This abhorrent practice must be outlawed immediately, with government funding redirected into essential community services.
An end to greyhound racing would mean:
- No more injuries and deaths: Greyhounds would no longer be subjected to life-threatening crashes or drug-related harm on racetracks.
- Safe and loving homes for all dogs: Greyhounds could live as valued companion animals, not disposable commodities.
- A shift towards ethical entertainment: Public funds could support humane, community-focused events instead of a cruel gambling industry.
Ending greyhound racing would align WA with a growing movement across Australia and the world that recognises the inherent cruelty of this industry. Greyhounds deserve a life of care, dignity, and respect — not one of exploitation and suffering.
