Protect Australian Icons

Western Australia's unique and iconic wildlife is under serious threat.

Habitat destruction, logging, land clearing, and the climate crisis are pushing countless species to the brink of extinction.

Kangaroos, little penguins, and black cockatoos — beloved WA icons — are among those at risk. Without immediate action, we will lose them forever.

Help us enforce save our Australian icons.

On March 8th, Vote '1' for Animal Justice Party on your WA State Election ballot paper.

The Problem

Extensive land clearing for agriculture, mining, and urban development is wiping out vital habitats. This destruction not only displaces native animals but also accelerates their decline.

Kangaroo populations continue to suffer after 200 years of being hunted and killed as "pests."

Little Penguin colonies have been devastated, declining by up to 94%.

And with Carnaby, Baudin and forest red-tailed black cockatoos already listed as endangered, their populations are also nosediving due to the loss of old-growth forests essential for nesting and feeding.

Despite strong community opposition and the critical role these animals play in ecosystems, destructive practices persist unchecked.

Put simply, our wildlife has been abandoned by the WA State Government. With species extinction on the rise, we cannot afford to lose any more of our native icons.

The Solution

Protecting our state’s precious wildlife requires bold and immediate action.

We must prioritise conservation over profit, and safeguard the future for our iconic species. It is time for proactive measures to protect wildlife habitats, and to reverse species extinction and biodiversity loss across the state.

Our Focus:

  • Overhaul WA's threatened species legislation to ensure comprehensive protection for our native wildlife
  • Immediately stop the clearing of old-growth forests for agriculture, mining and urban expansion
  • Support large-scale native rewilding and revegetation projects, to combat the effects of land clearing and enable species to be safely reintroduced into secure habitats
  • Reduce the alarming mortality rate of native species killed by 'road strike' by investing in wildlife-friendly infrastructure including wildlife corridors and fencing

The survival of our native wildlife depends on us.
Our plan will bringing our Australian icons back from the edge of extinction, safeguarding native species into the future.
